Chelsea Football Club has submitted an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and the hearing took place earlier this week in order to lift their transfer window ban handed by FIFA in February this year. The ruling is to be expected in the first half of December.
With the month-long transfer window for English football club opening on 1st of January, Chelsea still needs to serve one more transfer window ban on getting new players for the squad.
The sport’s world governing body, FIFA handed The Blues a two transfer window ban after finding the club guilty of violating 150 rules on the transfer of minors, which involves almost 70 academy players.
Chelsea has since denied any wrongdoing from their end, claiming that all the players involved were on a trial basis and did not participate in any official youth games for the club.
The Blues initially made an appeal to FIFA’s appeal committee back in April but was thrown out as the committee has seen Chelsea’s actions to be “inexcusable” breaches of the regulations.
The verdict would come in time for The Blues to make necessary preparations for the upcoming transfer window as they are currently linked with a number of players to wear the Chelsea Jersey, but all of these can only happen if the Court of Arbitration for Sport rules in their favor.
