Le Tour de Femina (LTdF) 2019, Malaysia’s first ever women international stage cycling race has been postponed to new dates as the current schedule clashes with the preparation for the 2019 Manila SEA Games which is happening in December 2019.
Following the notifications from the Malaysian women cycling team as well as other South East Asian countries stating that they were unable to partake in the race initially scheduled from 16-21 November 2019 due to preparations for the upcoming SEA Games, organizers Ciclista Sports Sdn Bhd issued a statement regarding the postponement of the event and new dates for LTdF 2019 will be rescheduled in due time after the biennial SEA Games.
“We’ve agreed to postpone LTdF 2019 to a new date after deliberating the matter with the management of the Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) as well as coaches from the Malaysian cycling team,” said Ciclista Chief Executive Officer, Shahirudeen Seen today.
The preparation for LTdF 2019 will carry on as planned, adding that the organizers would ensure the race will be held as well. Le Tour de Femina 2019 is designed for cyclists to cycle a total distance of 719.9km and is organized by Ciclista Sports Sdn Bhd in collaboration with KBS and MNCF, with the aim of empowering women in sports and also making Malaysia as one of the major cycling hubs for women in the region.
