Dubbed “The Special One”, Jose Mourinho has been appointed to fill the shoes of Mauricio Pochettino as the next manager of Tottenham Hotspur FC.
The former Chealsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid manager has signed a deal with Spurs until the end of 2022-23 season, and the deal was rumored to be worth £15 million (approx. RM80.5 million) a year.
According to ESPN’s sources, Mourinho is the only candidate for the manager’s position and his role in the club was confirmed just hours later of sacking Pochettino.
“In Jose we have one of the most successful managers in football,” said Spurs chairman, Daniel Levy. “He has a wealth of experience, can inspire teams and is a great tactician. He has won honours at every club he has coached. We believe he will bring energy and belief to the dressing room.”
Spurs will be the third Premier League club managed by Mourinho. He has won three Premier League titles and a FA Cup across two spells with Chelsea before taking over Manchester United in 2016 where he has also won a Europa League and Carabao Cup.
Mourinho was sacked by Manchester United back in December 2018 and he has not managed another football club until he joined Spurs. It will definitely be exciting to see if “The Special One” is able to turn things around for the 14th place Spurs for the remaining of the season.
